sc-awwa-logoweb Established in 1881 by 22 dedicated water supply professionals, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) has grown to a membership of over 57,000 individuals, utilities, and other water professionals. AWWA is an international, non-profit, scientific and educational association dedicated to improving drinking water for people everywhere.

Affiliation Agreement

The South Carolina Section of AWWA represents over 800 individuals and 66 water utilities in the state of South Carolina. Volunteers elected to the Executive Committee carry out the goals as set in the Section's bylaws and the many volunteers who serve on committees accomplish specific tasks. The Section has three paid staff positions: Executive Director, Association Manager, and Association Specialist who carry out the day to day operation and activities of the Section. The Section conducts many seminars and workshops throughout the year with one annual meeting - the South Carolina Environmental Conference (SCEC)- held in March each year in Myrtle Beach, SC. The SCEC is held jointly with the South Carolina Water Environment Association (SCWEA). The SC Section also publishes a quarterly Journal jointly with the SCWEA.



Mission

The South Carolina Section of the American Water Works Association (SCAWWA) is dedicated to protecting public health and welfare by supporting the efforts of those in the water profession to provide drinking water of superior quality and sufficient quantity. SCAWWA shall be an effective instrument of change by advancing the technology, science, education, and governmental policies that relate to drinking water and stewardship of water resources.

SCAWWA will continue to be the recognized organization dedicated to promoting, protecting and preserving drinking water resources of our region through the following initiatives:

 

  1. Better inform decision makers on water issues and benefits of SCAWWA
  2. Grow section membership and provide valuable services for members
